Owner of Sarasota Moms Blog

Founding Owner

Lauren is the founding owner of Sarasota Moms Blog, as of July 2016. After growing up in northern Virginia and spending time in the Midwest, Lauren decided not to wait until retirement to enjoy the white sandy beaches and the tropical temperatures that Florida offers. She and her two children, Aiden {2010} and Kinley {2012}, moved south to live near her parents in 2013.  As a family, they love spending time outdoors, checking out new restaurants, and simply snuggling on the couch with a book. On top of being a single mom and the owner of Sarasota Moms Blog, Lauren teaches middle school math in the fabulous Sarasota County Public Schools.

Life has been challenging over the past 10 plus years, with multiple moves, a divorce, and navigating how to be a single mom.  However, through it all she always found mom friends to lean on and pick her up in the midst of hard times. Her hope is to connect moms with their local community, support them and encourage them that they are not alone.

Content Director

Vivian has lived in seven of the most random cities in the US (Rancho Cucamonga, anyone?), but if hard pressed will say she grew up in Dayton, Ohio. Having chucked her ice scrapers and earmuffs in the garbage, she now spends her sunshine-filled days in Lakewood Ranch, FL. In a former life, she was an advertising agency copywriter, but today teaches full time in the Advertising Department at Ringling College of Art and Design. She’s an avid reader, jewelry fiend and bona fide foodie with the 3-star Michelin restaurant receipt to prove it. When she’s not enlightening young minds or writing, she’s cooking for her son, Logan, who eats like an NFL linebacker, doting on her daughter, Dahlia, or binge-watching TV with her husband, Steve.

Managing Editor

Almost four years ago, Melanie married her husband, Eric, in Sarasota, as part of a destination wedding while they were living in Indiana. Fast forward to October 2015, and the couple, along with their now 2-year-old daughter, Colette, moved down here, to seek new, much warmer adventures. Melanie is currently a stay-at-home mom and freelance writer (though this is her first time blogging about herself!). She received her journalism degree from Indiana University and worked as a newspaper reporter for several years, before switching careers and joining the public relations department at a museum. Raised in Latin America, mostly in Lima, Peru, by her American dad and Trinidadian mom, Melanie grew up fluent in Spanish and multi-cultural. This led to her love for international traveling, ethnic food and meeting new people. She is also obsessed with “Game of Thrones,” good books, gummy bears and, of course, her daughter.

Social Media Manager

Ann Sweeney was born and raised in Sarasota. After going away to college in South Bend, Indiana, her husband, Joe, who is also a local, moved back to the city they both love. Since getting married in 2012, Ann and Joe have have welcomed beautiful, Irish Twin boys, Joey and Brendan. They have loved navigating the waters of this new stage of life together and can’t wait to share the good, the bad, and the funny experiences they encounter on this journey!

Additionally, Ann owns and operates Stronger Together Digital Marketing, which supports business owners social media and marketing needs.
