Farmers markets are such a wonderful way to get outside and spend time with family or friends. You can discover new and interesting art and products, buy local and organic produce, pick up fresh flowers and try some new and delicious food. Dogs are welcome at many of our local markets, so it really can be a great thing to do with the entire family.
We are so blessed to live in Florida where we can have farmers’ markets throughout the year. In the Sarasota area, we have tons of options! Some of the local markets are seasonal and some are year-around and they all vary a little bit in size and offerings. Let me give you all of the juicy details!
Here’s the List of the Sarasota area Farmers Markets
Downtown Sarasota Farmers Market (year-round) – Saturdays 7am – 1pm – Main St. and Lemon Ave., Downtown Sarasota. This is definitely the largest Farmers Market with over 70 vendors taking over several downtown blocks. You can find a variety of local artists and products, beautiful flowers and plants, and fresh and local produce. There are a lot of food and drink options, ranging from healthy to decadent and delicious treats. There is definitely something for everyone at this market!
Phillipi Creek Farmers Market (Oct-April) – Wednesdays 9am – 2pm – Phillipi Estate Park, 5500 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. This is a great market to take a mid-week break and get outside and grab some fresh and fun goodies. There are over 50 vendors at this market that include fresh produce, herbs, and plants from local growers, as well as prepared foods, and specialty and homemade items. Dogs are welcome to this market and they even had a mobile dog wash there!
Rosemary Indie Market (November – May) – 3rd Saturday of every month, 10am-3pm – Downtown Sarasota. At this monthly neighborhood market, there are local artists, farmers, vintage dealers, entertainers, designers and local non-profits. It is pet and family friendly and parking is free.
The Market at Lakewood Ranch (Dec – April) – Wednesdays 3-7pm – Sarasota Polo Club, 8201 Polo Club Lane, Sarasota. This is a beautiful farmers market and an amazing way to get outside and have some fun with the family mid-week. There are more than 15 vendors, including organic produce from Worden Farms, seafood, eggs, fermented veggies, honey, fresh bread, pasta, mushrooms, wine, wood-fired pizza and some delicious treats. There are also fresh flowers, organic skin products, and knife-sharpening services. The Market offers culinary demonstrations, fitness and wellness mini classes, live music, and activities for the kids, including a free climbing wall. Dogs on leashes are welcome.
Siesta Key Farmers Market (year-round) – Sundays 8am – 1pm – Siesta Key Village, 5104 Ocean Blvd, Siesta Key. This market has over 20 vendors and live music. The vendors include local artists, fresh bread and oils, handmade jewelry, fresh produce and delicious food. It is in the heart of Siesta Key Village, so you can also do some additional exploring and eating in the village after you explore the market.
Venice Farmers Market (year-round) – Saturdays 8am – 12pm – Near Centennial Park, 200 Tampa Ave, Venice. This market has over 50 vendors that include fresh produce, flowers and plants, organic clothing and skin products, herbs and spices, fresh bread and oils, local artists and so much more!
Bradenton Farmers Market (October – May) – 9am – 2pm – Downtown Bradenton, 400 12th St W, Bradenton. This market has 35 vendors that include locally grown produce, fresh flowers and plants, local artwork and crafts, fresh seafood, eggs, and much more. There is also live music, weekly chef demonstrations and organized kids activities.
