What Dads Didn’t Know They Needed… Surprise! It’s Not Another Tie.

Father's Day gifts

If you’re anything like me, I’m terrible at shopping for Father’s Day. I usually wait until the last possible second and then have my kids hand him a gift with gift receipt attached. This year, I am determined to find great Father’s Day gifts for the important dads in my life.

Homemade Gifts

My kids love to craft. What better way to show their dad how much they love him — and keep them busy — than making a homemade gift. This year, they will be making homemade shaving cream. Yes, you read that correctly. My husband has recently decided to grow a beard, so shaving cream it is. Most likely, we will combine the homemade shaving cream with some other fun stuff and make a man crate. You can buy man crates online, however, you can make one for just a few dollars. Bonus tip: Once your kids are done with the homemade shaving cream, they can make a little extra and turn the craft into slime.

Gift Cards for a Special Experience

Some people think gift cards are impersonal. I used to have the same thought until I came across Modern Gents. This one of a kind barber shop is located in the Cooper Creek Plaza in Lakewood Ranch. Let me warn you, if you purchase a gift card for the dads in your life, you may not see them for a few hours. This barber shop not only offers haircuts and shaves, but also a full service alcohol and cigar bar. The atmosphere is old school barber shop combined with a top hat gentleman feel. It truly is a luxurious, pampering experience. So if you are giving a gift card, make sure it’s for a special experience.

Dad’s Type of Food and Drinks

If your husband likes a cold, refreshing beer, especially in the dead of the summer heat, head to Oak and Stone. With over 50 beers, ciders and meads on tap that you can sample and pour yourself, your special dad is sure to find one that suits his taste. It’s not just for beer lovers either because Oak and Stone prepares some amazing food. My husband’s favorites are the fried pickle chips, pork sliders and coal fired pizza. As you are drinking beer and chowing down, don’t forget to play some outdoor pool, corn hole and watch a game. Oak and Stone is located on University Parkway in the Home Depot Shopping Plaza.

If Technology is Dad’s Thing

Many of us may already own an Amazon Echo, however, my house is so excited to learn that Apple released its HomePod device. This is a must-have on my husband’s list. It is much like the Echo/Alexa, yet if you live in an Apple product driven home it does so much more. Some of it’s benefits include combining Siri and music and the ability to AirPlay into two additional rooms.

And the Winner Is…

If the dads in your life are into sports, I cannot think of a better place to take him than a short drive up I-75, to Top Golf. It is one of the coolest places I’ve been to! Top Golf incorporates a driving range, kid zone, full service bar and delicious food. You can host a party or just take the family but everyone is sure to have a fun filled afternoon. But beware, you desperately need reservations or you could wind up waiting for hours. If you do get stuck waiting, don’t fret. Within the same exit, there are numerous activities sure to excite the dads in your life: iFly, Bass Pro Shop and Dave and Busters to name a few.

Happy Father’s Day to all the special dads!
