Why is it that when I go grocery shopping I find myself at multiple stores? Head one place for cheaper and less healthier options, off to the specialty grocery store for foods based on allergens, stop by the farmer’s market for fresh produce, and on the way home swing by the traditional grocery for whatever else.
All the while, I’m silently cursing to myself about how much I hate grocery shopping!
Welcome to a New Way to Grocery Shop
Introducing Lucky’s Market Sarasota opening September 20, 2017, at 3501 S Tamiami Trail.
Do We Need Another Grocery Store?
Before meeting with Lucky’s Market Sarasota, I truly questioned if our area really needed another grocery store. In full transparency, it feels like we have plenty of options to run to and I really had become accustomed to my routine of grocery store hopping.
So, I asked them, “What makes you different from what we already have?”
Their answer was simple: “We serve wine.”
You read that right, they serve wine and beer for you to enjoy as you peruse the aisles of their store. Genius, right? Although, their answer was so much more than the option to drink while you shop.
Beyond Shopping: A Brief History
Trish and Bo Sharon, professional chefs, became tired of what was currently being offered for places to shop for food and started asking some questions: “Why did they have to shop so many different places? Why did those places seem welcoming to some people, but not all people? And why did the highest quality food always come with the highest price tag?”
They created a solution.
Beyond Wine: Why Shop Lucky’s Market Sarasota?
Lucky’s Market Sarasota website states: “It’s just that somehow so much of the good stuff has become really expensive. Sold in stores that act like they’re doing you a big fat favor bringing it to you. And maybe they are, but they shouldn’t act like it. That’s why we started Lucky’s Market.”
At the same time, they understand that sometimes you simply want to eat an entire plate of nachos by yourself while you catch up on Game of Thrones. There is no shame in that.
However, for those looking for fresh products, Lucky’s Market Sarasota has you covered! With a high importance on supporting the local community, Lucky’s makes sure to work with local farmers to provide high quality produce for those that shop their aisles. “We’re passionate about bringing the best quality products we can find to our local communities. Think of us as the country roadside stand of fresh tomatoes or the chef’s table in a kitchen dishing up delicious fare.”
Beyond working with farmers, Lucky’s Market Sarasota makes sure to stock their shelves with local products that Sarasota locals love!
Their philosophy on food fits most families: healthy food doesn’t have to be expensive and you don’t only need to eat healthy food to shop here. This makes grocery shopping simple, affordable and fun!
Beyond Food: Lucky’s is Giving Back
Lucky’s Market Sarasota will not just open their doors, but will reach out into the community to give back. Some of the charities that Lucky’s Market Sarasota will be working with and donating to are: Just For Girls, Alliance for Kids, Florida Veterans for Common Sense, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast, Mental Health Community Centers, Community Haven and Women’s Resource Center.
One of their programs is Bags for Change. Bring in a reusable bag, receive a wooden dime for each one used, then donate that dime to the local nonprofit organization. At the end of the quarter, Lucky’s will double all money raised! Read more about different ways Lucky’s is serving our community here.
Let the Countdown Begin
Honestly, I’m looking forward to Lucky’s Market Sarasota opening. My original hesitation of another grocery store was greeted with a unique perspective, which has made me want to be part of what Lucky’s is doing.
I want to support them as they support our community. I want the option to only shop at one location that understands my need for organic produce and for cheese puffs. I want to drink wine when I shop. See you there!
